It has been an honour and pleasure to be your teacher and to see you graduate from Primary School.  I hope that you have learnt much this year: not just in knowledge, but in developing your skills and attitudes – everything you need to become responsible citizens in our world.  As you leave for Secondary School let me give you a final lesson that I hope you will take it to heart and also teach others:
  • ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST>>  You are unique and your goal shouldn’t to be just like someone else.  Only you can do what you are made to do.  Don’t let other people tell you whether you are successful or not – only you can be the judge of that, and only you know if you have done your very best.
  • RESPECT EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING>>  Everyone deserves respect: so you should respect people.  It doesn’t matter if they are older than you, younger, from a different country, your neighbour, your parents, your family.  You should also respect yourself; whatever you do don’t choose things that would hurt yourself or the people around you.  Respect the world around you as well: animals, plants and property all need to be cared for.  Never forget to thank the people around you who have helped you… and you should also help others too!
  • KEEP ON LEARNING>>  We are always learning.  Even teachers need to keep learning.  Keep asking questions and look for ways to develop yourself.
Finally, take care and I pray that you would achieve your dreams, whatever they may be.  I hope I will be old enough to see that come true!

All the best for Secondary School and beyond!
Mr. Sam Leong

On behalf of Ms Tina Borges my fellow Primary 6 teacher, I am proud to present to you the Funful Sear Rogers International School Primary 6 Graduates of 2012-2013.  We congratulate them as they transition to Secondary School.

Graduation Day is finally here!  It will be held at Hong Kong Baptist University's Academic Community Hall, located near the intersection of Waterloo Rd and Cornwall St.  The map below shows how to travel there from the school (the easiest way is to take bus 87D).  Students are to be there by 9am, wearing FULL SUMMER SCHOOL UNIFORM.  Those who are performing in The Secret Room play are to bring their costumes separately and change 15 minutes before the performance.  See you there!

We were pleased to have Natalie Cheung visit our school today to give the students an introduction to fencing.  Natalie represented Hong Kong in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, China.  She is now a professional fencing coach at the Jubilee Fencing Centre in Kwun Tong.

Yenifer chose Jessie to be the next Kudos of the Week because she is a COOPERATIVE and RESPECTFUL student.  Well done!

The students spent the last 10 weeks preparing for the Exhibition and I believe they have given it their very best.  In my opinion, because the learning was student-driven from the beginning, the students took ownership to present the topic of their choice and were able to demonstrate their research and learning through different media.  Well done on a fantastic Exhibition!
I would like to thank Ms Tina (fellow P6 teacher) as well as Mr Adam (PYP Coordinator) whose advice and cooperation have made this event possible.  I would also like to thank them as well as Ms Esther (P4H teacher), Ms Huo (Chinese teacher) and Ms Rao (P3 teacher) for giving their time and energy into mentoring their groups.  Final thanks to Mr Richard for teaching the students the "Education" rap song to open the Exhibition and also to Ms Betsy (Mr Adam's wife) for helping us procure the T-shirts and display boards.

This year the Primary 6 students will not be inquiring into the Sharing The Planet unit.  However, we booked this outing at the start of the year so it was a nice day out exploring Hong Kong's Zoological & Botanical Gardens in Central.

Helen chose Yenifer as this week's Kudos.  Yenifer is a COOPERATIVE and RESPECTFUL student.  Her challenge is to be more TOLERANT of all kinds of people, especially the ones hardest to work with.
